These days, Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is an unquestioned All-Star. He is one of the very few absolute must-watch players in the league, and even has the potential to win the MVP award this season with his team bulldozing through the competition in the early going.
It wasn’t always this way, though. Just a few years ago, Curry had no answer for his inability to stay away from injuries, and some initially even questioned whether it was worth giving him the four-year, $44 million deal. It’s beyond silly in retrospect, as any team would break the bank to sign someone as uniquely-dominant as Curry now, but it was easy to doubt at the time due to the ankle sprains he repeatedly suffered on a regular basis.
He has had two ankle surgeries to correct the ligament damages and since then, it has been mostly smooth sailing. Curry never suffered a single sprain last season, and was largely able to stay away from it the year before last season as well before tweaking it badly twice in the playoffs against the Denver Nuggets and San Antonio Spurs.
So what’s been the secret?
He talks about it in a new series called “Kick’n It” with his good friend Christopher Strachan, among other things in the clip below:
The answer: comfortable ankle braces from a company called Zamst. It may be hard to tell that he’s wearing them unless you look very closely because they are color-coordinated with the shoes he wears on any given night.
If you’re a fan of Curry, thank Zamst. If you sprain your ankles a lot and don’t know what to do, try Zamst because it’s working for one of the best basketball players on the planet.
