Despite a stress reaction in his lower back that was discovered after back spasms at the start of preseason, Jodie Meeks is still finding ways to shoot. It might not be the type of shooting the Detroit Pistons are hoping for, but it’s still a start.
Initially diagnosed with the spasms in his back, team doctors for the Pistons urged him to get a CAT scan following his continued pain and discomfort. The injury has sidelined him for the entire regular season, including all but the first preseason game. Meeks is now at the six week mark of the eight he was originally scheduled to be out for.
Meeks found his way to a gun range on Monday after the Pistons loss to the Golden State Warriors on Sunday. Even though he might be working on the wrong shooting form, he’s having fun with it and is hoping to get back on the court soon.
He posted this photo, along with an entertaining video, to his Instagram on Monday.
“Good times today with @lord_ishus …gettin them shots right! #pause #goofykid”.
I’m no genius, but he still might want to consider working out the kinks in the form of shooting that gets him paid before he gets ready to return to the court soon.
Let’s hope Meeks can get both forms of shooting down so he’ll stop trying out his hand at the gun range, especially for Detroit’s sake. They need him to be on the court, where we all know they could desperately use a spark to turn around their lousy campaign thus far.
Detroit are losers of a disgusting eight in a row, and will try to stop that streak on Tuesday against Meeks’ former team in the Los Angeles Lakers, who are also off to a terrible start.
