Warren Buffett is a fan of LeBron James. But who isn’t? Buffett was in attendance at the Cleveland Cavaliers game on Monday when they hosted the Charlotte Hornets.
Sitting on the baseline next to the Cavs bench next to owner Dan Gilbert, Buffett is considered to be a unique but close friend of James. The two have had a personal relationship for awhile now, in which LeBron seeks his advice in business.
According to Joe Vardon of the the Northeast Ohio Media Group, Buffett is very happy with King James’ decision to return back home:
Count Warren Buffett among those who were thrilled that LeBron James returned to the Cavaliers this season.
“I loved it. I loved it when he did it,” Buffett told the Northeast Ohio Media Group at The Q, prior to James and the Cavaliers beating the Charlotte Hornets 97-88 on Monday night.
“I thought it was absolutely the right thing to do. I couldn’t have been more pleased.”
He’s the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, a national conglomerate holding company in Omaha, Nebraska, Buffett’s hometown. As you can imagine, the company is worth a ridiculous amount of money. Forbes.com, from Vardon, counts his net worth at $71.6 billion.
As Chris Sheridan would say, that’s billion with a B!
This photo was posted by Anderson Varejao to Instagram on Monday night after the Cavs beat the Hornets 97-88.
Look at that old school LeBron jersey! Buffett is a true fan.
And here’s another from Varejao, with Dan Gilbert photo bombing in the back behind Buffett.
LeBron and Buffett have been friends for about seven years now. He said James was “smart about business, but he’s just a smart guy”.
That’s very true indeed. James is one of the best and most marketed athletes in the world, and has numerous marketing and TV deals. Oh, and he also is a signature athlete with Nike, and only signed a two-year deal with Cleveland so that he can structure a new contract with the Cavs that will be worth more money.
These two know how to make money, that’s for sure.
