On Monday night against the Charlotte Hornets, Timofey Mozgov looked like he belonged on the battlefield. He took an errant elbow from Bismack Biyombo to his left eye, just above it on his forehead, that left him a bloodied mess.
Moments after, he got a nice slap in the face from Gerald Henderson to make matters worse. He had to leave the game due to the fact that his entire face was covered in blood, which apparently you can’t play through.
First, let’s take a look at how this happened.
You can see the original elbow from Biyombo, followed by the slap from Henderson.
For whatever reason he felt necessary, Mozgov pointed to Biyombo and then at his bloody face, and looked like he was telling the refs who did it to him. Really?
This picture, posted by Mozgov himself to his Instagram after the game, shows just how bad/awesome the cut above his eye was.
Here’s what he had to say about the cut: “I’m ok R U”.
He also added a flexing arm and smiley face with sunglasses emoji, just for good measure. Or because he’s going to be wearing sunglasses for the next week or so? I don’t know, but it’s pretty good stuff from Mozgov.
The Nuggets’ doctors fixed him up, giving him four stitches to seal the wound.
He later returned to the game, finishing with two points and three rebounds in 15 minutes.
It’s not about his stat line, it’s the fact he wanted to play through the injury, probably even with blood still streaming down his face. Kudos Timofey!
