The Detroit Pistons have been on an absolute tear since trading Josh Smith, and Andre Drummond has played an instrumental part during their 10-2 run on both ends of the floor.
The center was at it again on Friday against the Indiana Pacers, collecting 16 points and 16 rebounds and coming up with the game-winning tip on a missed layup attempt by Brandon Jennings with the game tied at 96 apiece. That was after he came up with a defensive stop against Roy Hibbert on the other end of the floor by drawing a charge against the big man in the post:
The Pacers broadcasters were less than pleased with the charge call, but it’s probably going to be tough to call what Drummond did a flop (which is what they insinuated) because he did take contact and the refs often call it when an offensive player lowers his shoulder – sometimes even to the slightest – the way Hibbert did to get deeper into the paint area.
More importantly, Drummond didn’t give up on the other end by coming up with the clutch tip (thanks to David West sleeping on the box out) as Jennings went in for yet another game-winning attempt (with virtually the same shot) and it gave the Pistons their seventh straight win on the road.
Needless to say, the center was ecstatic and shared his feelings after the contest:

Detroit is now just two games back for the eighth seed in the East, and it’s starting to look like a playoff appearance this season is going to be inevitable for the revitalized organization.
