The New York Knicks have been by far the most surprising team in the NBA, and not for a good reason. With Phil Jackson running things and bringing in his disciple in Derek Fisher to coach, no one saw this coming.
They’re now 8-37, the worst team in the league, and just trade two of their better players away to the Cleveland Cavaliers for basically nothing.
But, not everything has been awful in New York. On Tuesday, the Knicks announced that they’d come to an agreement on a two-year contract with Langston Galloway, an undrafted free agent out of Saint Joseph’s in 2014.
Here’s the photo of him signing his contract with New York on Tuesday, which was posted to Instagram by Galloway himself.
“I’m honored to be apart of the New York Knicks organization. Blessed to live out this Dream. Ready to continue this Journey.”, he said about his opportunity.
He was initially brought in on a 10-day contract on Jan.7, then signed his second 10-day contract on Jan.17. In the NBA, if the Knicks were to keep him for the rest of the season, a player must be through the remainder of that season after their second 10-day contract expired.
Galloway, a 6’2″ guard out of Saint Joseph’s, is averaging 12.1 points, 3.0 assists and 4.1 rebounds while playing 28.0 minutes a night and appearing in eight games. Since joining the team, the Knicks are 3-5, and winners of three of their last four games after losing 16 straight games.
The details of his contract have not been fully revealed at this time, but I’m sure it’s much, much more than the $29,000 they were paying him through a 10-day contract. The deal for next season is partially guaranteed.
Congratulations Langston, and don’t spend all that money in one place.
