A few weeks ago, James Harden learned the hard way that talking negatively about the Golden State Warriors doesn’t do any good for his team on the court.
Apparently, Enes Kanter of the Utah Jazz wasn’t paying attention because he had some interesting things to say about the Warriors on Friday prior to their final meeting of the season, from CSN Bay Area (keep in mind that the Jazz had lost the previous two games by an average of 12 points and were essentially blown out by the fourth quarter in both contests):
“They’re pretty good,” Kanter said Friday morning, hours before facing the Warriors a third time.
“Everybody knows they’re the best team in the NBA. We’re trying to get where they are, and we’re not gonna back up — we don’t care who they are. So we’re going to go out there and fight.
When asked if he saw Klay Thompson’s 37-point quarter, Kanter confessed that he did and said, “Who cares?”
“I think we have enough talent to guard (Thompson) and everyone on their team,” he said.
[…]
“Andrew Bogut: Big guy, knows a littler Turkish, I don’t know what to say about him,” Kanter said. “He’s just, I don’t know, a big guy — nothing special.”
Unlike what happened to Harden, though, the Jazz backed up everything Kanter said, beating the Warriors 110-100 and leading the entire way. Bogut, who sat out the previous game due to illness, finished with just four points and four rebounds and admitted after the game that it was probably the worst performance of the year for him. Thompson was also unusually quiet throughout the night, finishing with just 12 points and two rebounds in 31 minutes.
Kanter proudly boasted about his claims on twitter after the contest:
Yup!! Just like what l said..! What A Win #JazzNation

For what it’s worth, Quin Snyder wasn’t on board with the things his center said, from Aaron Falk of The Salt Lake Tribune:
“I like that Enes is being emotional and aggressive and playing that way,” the coach said. “I think it was said in that kind of spirit of exuberance. But I think we all know the reality is [Golden State] is a terrific team, and what Klay Thompson did the other night was remarkable, and Andrew Bogut may be the best center in the league — to set the record straight.”
