The 2014-15 NBA regular season continued on Thursday, March 12. A rising star put on the highest scoring performance of the season and multiple contenders continued their push for the playoffs.
This is how it all transpired.
1. Kyrie Irving put on an absolute clinic in one of the best games in recent NBA history as the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the San Antonio Spurs 128-125. Irving was the star of the show, scoring 57 points on 20-of-32 shooting from the field, 7-of-7 from beyond the arc and 10-of-10 from the charity stripe, while LeBron James added 31 points for Cleveland and Tony Parker had 31 for the Spurs.
Irving’s 57 points set a new career-high, a franchise record and are the most of any player in 2014-15.
2. Marcin Gortat recorded 22 points, nine rebounds, three blocks and three steals to lead the Washington Wizards to a 107-87 blowout of the Memphis Grizzlies. John Wall added 21 points, seven rebounds, six assists, two blocks and one steal, and Paul Pierce had 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting as Washington dominated the shorthanded Grizzlies, which were without Mike Conley, Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph..
The win gives Washington consecutive wins for the first time since February 9.
3. Rodney Stuckey stayed hot with 25 points and Luis Scola put up 17 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Indiana Pacers past the Milwaukee Bucks 109-103 in overtime. Michael Carter-Williams came up with 28 points for the Bucks, but the Pacers remained one of the hottest teams in the league.
The Pacers have won seven consecutive games.
