From Paulo Kennedy of FIBA.com, in Wuhan, China:
(Rasheim) Wright then hit two miraculous driving baskets before Yi Li drove down the middle for a jam. Wright then tied the game away with a long, shot-clock beating 3-pointer and the game was tied at 69. Yi Jianlian was then unwisely fouled in the backcourt, with Jordan in the bonus, giving him his chance to win the game. He missed the first, then the second bounced around before dropping in. Jordan had one more chance, Wright’s fadeaway was off target but Abdallah Abuqoura grabbed the offensive rebound and fed (Sam) Dughles, whose teardrop was off the mark.
Yi had 25 points, 16 assists and six blocks and was named Tournament MVP. Click here for the boxscore.
Robert Saiget of Agence France-Press reports that Yi got a favorable whistle to get to the line for his two pressure free throws with 29 seconds left.
In the Jordan Times, no mention was made of the two misses at the end by Wright and Dughles. But the report does note “the Kingdom’s achievements in the past few years put them at the forefront of Asian teams.”
Nine teams have qualified for the 2012 London Games: The United States, Great Britain, Spain, France, Argentina, Brazil, China, Australia and Tunisia.
