More Kobe on Italy: “In terms of what’s holding up the deal, it’s the same as any deal.” In other words, money?
Stern said deal must be made by Monday in order to avoid cancellation of first 2 weeks of the season. So now we know when the 11th hour is.

Hunter would not characterize himself as insulted by owners offer. It’s business,” he said. “There were no hard feelings in the room.”

Hunter said meeting broke after owners went from 46 to 47 percent, the sides caucused separately, then reconvened and decided to go home.

When is next meeting? “A month, maybe two months? It’s your guess,” Hunter said.

Union says move from 54 to 53 percent was worth $1 billion over six years. Hunter says union was never willing to drop below 50s.

The players are at the mercy of the owners. You dont understand this Chris. Who cares about your precious momentum you brought up. Miami still has the big 3, Kobes still in LA, KD and the Thunder are still rising, D-Rose is a beast, and John Wall and Kyrie will take over soon.
THE OWNERS WILL START TO WRING THE NECKS OF THE PLAYERS – ESPECIALLY THE FRINGE TO AVERAGE PLAYERS WHEN PAYCHECKS ARE MISSED. SOLIDARITY WILL SOON BE LOST AMONG THE PLAYERS AS MORE AND MORE PAYCHECKS ARE MISSED. YOU DONT SEE CHRIS BROUSSARD LEAVE ESPN AND HES STILL VERY CREDIBLE. HES BEEN SAYING THE WHOLE TIME HES NOT SURE IF A DEAL CAN GET DONE – PRETTY MUCH THE OPPOSITE OF YOUR THOUGHTS. SERIOUSLY DUDE. GO BACK TO COLLEGE FOR SOME KNOWLEDGE.
SORRY AGAIN BUT YOUR CRAZY MAN. START TO HAVE SOME CREDIBILITY. THE 2 SIDES ARE FURTHER APART THAN THE 99 LOCKOUT AND THE SEASON WAS STILL SHORTENED. YOU’RE A GOOD BBALL WRITER BESIDES THIS LOCKOUT CRAP. COME JOIN THE JAMES STANTON SCHOOL OF JOURNALISM. I CAN TEACH YOU SOME STUFF.

Would that involve WRITING IN FUCKIN CAPITAL LETTERS ALL THE TIME DUDE???!??

Boom goes the dynamite. I’m still waiting on your bet Chris.
The only reason I can see as to why the smaller market owners are allowed to set the agenda is they are in the majority. Isn’t it in their power to include revenue sharing and strong arm the big market owners with a less favorable deal? But why settle when you can just take it all from the players percentage.

Chris,
The whole premise that your site was opened on has been destroyed.

I apologize for being such a jerk in advance but you have brought MANY basketball fans hopes up only to give them a crushing blow with your latest update.
What excellence in reporting.

Well Chris,
It looks like both you and Mark Heisler were a little too optimistic that a deal would get done in time for the regular season to begin on time. No deal today and no meetings scheduled in the foreseeable future will result in regular-season game cancellations within the next week.
Reports are that Stern said that the remainder of the preseason is about to be canceled and that on Monday regular-season games will begin to be canceled.
This mess will probably get much messier, dirtier, nastier and uglier before it begins to get any better.
Let the season start says
the logic behind the owners strategy seems a bit flawed

I cannot believe that big market owners like Jerry Buss and Mark Cuban are letting Robert Sarver and friends set the agenda and wipe out the regular season. The damage done to the league may be irreparable. The NBA is not the NFL.

so whats happening… when is common sense going to kick in?
