From Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times: “The Clippers had plenty of fun, turning an exhibition game into an exhibition. Chris Paul wore a Clippers uniform for the first time and had 17 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, showing why the Lakers wanted him too. Chauncey Billups also looked like a great pickup, scoring 23 points in 20 minutes after being claimed off waivers from New York last week. “It was a little extra for me personally,” said Paul, acquired from New

Odds and ends on slow day in NBA (unless D.Howard gets traded tonight)
Samuel Dalembert should have been signed by now. A shot-blocking and rebounding specialist, the 7-footer would figure to be in his demand simply because capable 7-footers are always seemingly in high demand. Dalembert had been in negotiations with the Houston Rockets, who have been trying to dig out of the rubble caused when commissioner David Stern dynamited their trade with the Hornets and Lakers, ruining their plans to field a front line of Pau Gasol and Nene. But now that the news
Hubbard column: Spurs may be old, but they are hardly sleepers
A strange phenomenon has occurred in the supersonic world of information that is currently embodied by Twitter. Everything is faster now – information, reaction, criticism and analysis. There used to be a 24-hour news cycle. Now it sometimes does not last 24 seconds. There seems to be, however, an unintended consequence. The faster the world; the quicker people forget. A few years ago, there was measured reaction to subjects of the day; now the norm is overreaction. And that’s fine. No complaints here.
Hamilton column: With Baron Davis, Knicks will win the Atlantic
NEW YORK — Earlier today, news began to trickle out from various media outlets that Baron Davis has agreed to join the Knicks. He will officially sign with the club on Monday and is expected to accept their one year “room exception” offer of $2.5 million. Marc Berman of the New York Post was the first to report Sunday that Davis agreed to join the Knicks and echoed my Friday sentiment—he will play sooner rather than later. According to Berman, the Knicks’
Mitnick Column: Regular Season “All-Euroleague” Team
With the NBA preseason making its debut, the Euroleague regular season enters its final week before teams advance to the “round of 16,” the next stage of the Euroleague competition. With each team only having one game remaining in the regular season, now is a good time to take a

They chanted “O-le, Ole Ole Ole” for Ricky Rubio in Minneapolis, and an M-V-P” chant was bestowed on — of all people — Renaldo Balkman of the Knicks at the Prudential Center in Newark. There was real basketball played Friday and Saturday around the NBA as the truncated preseason began, so let’s take a quick look at who was turning heads: SATURDAY: Knicks 92, Nets 83 With the off-the-court focus on whether Baron Davis will join the Knicks (or the Lakers, or the Heat)
Bad news for Celtics: Jeff Green out for season
Bad news — and scary news — out of Boston this afternoon as Jeff Green is out for the season with an aortic aneurysm. From Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe: The “aortic aneurysm was detected during his Dec. 9 physical. Green was examined by a series of cardiologists who suggested surgery. The Celtics said he should be able to resume his career next season. Green reached out on Twitter after the announcement. “Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers… much appreciated love
Gibson Column: Krstic Keeps CSKA Undefeated; Reeves Nelson from L.A. to Lithuania
BARCELONA — Regal Barcelona came into Thursday night letting up just 59 points per game. Montepaschi Siena scored more than half that in the final nine minutes and sent the team from Catalunya packing with their first loss of the year, a 77-74 final. And though Siena’s Coach Simone Pianigiani has locked up five straight Italian Championships and is coming off of a Euroleague Final Four, this win belongs right near the top of his list. Why? Because he beat Europe’s best
