Highlight Performances:
Kobe Bryant, LAL– A second time highlight performer, Kobe was unstoppable Tuesday Night, dropping 48 points against the Suns. Kobe hit 18-31 shots from the field, did not make a 3, and added 3 steals, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Kobe is on pace to score 30 points a game this season, and he does not look like he is slowing down any time soon. I covered Kobe earlier this year, stating that he will shoot close to 30 shots on a nightly basis. If that continues as it has, Kobe could potentially post 30.0 PPG for the 4th time in his career.
Dorell Wright, GS– Coming off a career year, Wright has been labeled an early bust by many after his miserable start to the season. He has been awful from long range, which is basically the heart and soul of his fantasy value, connecting on only 5 of 27 shots from deep. Wright had a great game Tuesday Night, scoring 20 points on 6-11 from 3-point range, and even threw in 10 boards. I’m not saying Wright has saved his season, but it was surely reassuring for owners who spent an early pick on the sharpshooter.
Performances to Forget:
Tony Parker, SA– Parker had a very solid game on paper, scoring 22 points along with 8 assists. However, he committed some key turnovers towards the end of last night’s game, and had 7 on the night. Turnovers are key in fantasy, and committing 5+ on any given night can really hurt a team. Although owners will take the points and assists, the turnovers do hurt, and hopefully they do not continue.
Players to Watch:
Nate Robinson, GS– The newly acquired spark plug was huge for the Warriors in their win vs. the Heat, scoring 24 points, 4 steals, and 5 assists. He played 36 minutes, which raises the question of whether or not he will find a starting role in the near future. With Curry out, Robinson figures to continue to see a lot of playing time, and he does have value when given minutes. Not to mention, he hit 14-14 shots from the charity stripe, an impressive number for the 5’9 point guard. Expect some nice numbers moving forward.
Josh Howard, UTA– Howard has been a very solid player off the bench recently for the Jazz, scoring in double figures in 4 of the last 5 games and adding 17 points Tuesday Night. He may not provide much other than solid scoring and a handful of free throws, but owners looking for that type of production should roll the dice on Howard. He has done it before, and he is becoming the clear-cut 6th man in Utah.
