Many years ago, I was covering a game at Madison Square Garden and was speaking to Grant Hill just a few days after he announced that he was engaged to be married to the pop singer Tamia.
Hill was asked if he received any advice from Michael Jordan, to which he nodded affirmatively.
“He told me to get a pre-nup,” Hill said. “That’s what he told me: Get a pre-nup.”
I do not know if Hill ever got that pre-nuptual agreement, but I do know that Kobe Bryant did not get one when he married his soon to be ex-wife, Vanessa.
That lack of that document is going to cost Bryant, as TMZ is reporting that Bryant will give his wife $75 million, including three houses in the Newport Beach area, as part of their divorce settlement.

After 10 years of marriage in the state of California prenups are generally worthless, particularly in his case. Half of everything he made during the marriage is hers, prenup or not. California is a community property state.
