Highlight Performances:
Paul Pierce, BOS– The Celtics veteran had a big game Sunday Night in their win over the Celtics, posting 34 points, 8 rebounds, 10 assists, and 3 steals. Pierce has been having a solid yet unspectacular season, and has been very inconsistent scoring the ball. His rebounding and
assists numbers have hovered around 5 per game each, and although he’s averaging about 16 points a game, he has been somewhat up and down. However, in a rotisserie league, final numbers are what everything comes down to, and Pierce has generally been producing. A great game for him, and hopefully the start of a nice run.
Performances to Forget:
Jose Calderon, TOR– The Spanish point guard for the Raptors had a quiet night on Sunday, scoring just 3 points and dishing out only 4 assists. Although Calderon’s value is heavily tied to his ability to put up double-digit assist numbers, he has been relatively quiet scoring and has not done much else for owners this season. Specialists are always valuable, but until Calderon can start scoring, his value is limited and only useful in certain scenarios.
Players to Watch:
Mickael Pietrus, BOS– Following Ray Allen’s ankle injury, Pietrus played 34 minutes and scored 14 points. If Allen were to miss any time, Pietrus should see a significant increase in value, as he seems to be the key replacement of Allen. Pietrus can put up 12+ points a game with relative ease, but he does not do much in terms of rebounding and assists, so for the moment consider him a short-term pickup for any owners in need of some scoring help.
