I will be competing tonight in another $350 freeroll on DraftStreet.com a fantasy sports Web site that allows you to choose a new fantasy team each and every night with a chance to compete for cash prizes.
As an added incentive, I will follow the winner on Twitter until our next freeroll (I currently follow no one). And … I will ask my followers to follow the winner.
This contest is not difficult.
And it is free.
To sign up for tonight’s contest, which is exclusive to readers of SheridanHoops.com, click here.
In a nutshell, here are the rules:
You start with an imaginary budget of $100,000, and you use that money to select eight players who will be competing in tonight’s NBA games.
You need to choose two centers, two forwards, two guards and two utility players. (You can’t choose any Lakers or Celtics, because they are not playing tonight).
There is no bidding on players, so if you choose the most expensive player available (last week, in our first free roll, it was Dwight Howard, who cost $21,139), you will not be the only person for whom Howard is playing.
So let’s say you start with Howard. That leaves you with $78,861 for your remaining seven players. You can then grab Kevin Love for $20,166, which would leave you with $57,695 for your final six guys. (And here is a nice touch: If you find out at 6 p.m. that one of your guys is not playing, you can adjust your roster and replace him. The deadline is 7 p.m. EST.)
The relevant categories are points, rebounds, assists, turnovers, blocks, steals and missed shots — both field goals and free throws.
Steals and blocks are worth two points each. Assists are worth 1.5 points each. Rebounds are worth 1.25 points. Points are worth 1.0 points.
Turnovers and missed shots will hurt you.
Each turnover deducts 1 point from your total, and each missed shot — whether from the field or from the foul line — costs you a half-point.
At the end of the night, the top seven finishers split the $350. (First place: $125; 2nd: $80; 3rd: $55; 4th $40, 5th $25, 6th $15, 7th: $10)
So go ahead and give it a shot. It is a game of skill, not a game of chance, and it is perfectly legal for anyone in Canada or the United States (with the exception of residents of Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Montana, Vermont and Puerto Rico).
Again, click here to sign up. And good luck.
My team last week was Kevin Love, LaMarcus Aldridge, Monta Ellis, Ricky Rubio, Marcin Gortat, JaVale McGee, Von Wafer and Brian Scalabrine. I finished 50th out of 356.
My team tonight includes Aldridge, Love and Rubio again, along with Kyrie Irving, Samuel Dalembert, Roy Hibbert, Austin Daye and Chris Duhon.

Just joined and built my team. I’m going to need some breakout games from Humphries & Mozgov to win.

Darn Nene, if he plays I probably win. Then again, I’m probably the one to blame here.
Currently 11th with a line-up of C.J. Watson, Brandon Jennings, Loul Deng, LaMarcus Aldridge, Marc Gasol, Steve Nash, Omer Asik, and Nene.
