Carmelo Anthony out for 2 games, Wade a game-time decision
The ankle, the wrist, the thumb … and the ego? Carmelo Anthony had an array of injuries, and he has decided to shut it down until next Tuesday when the Knicks return home from their four-game road trip and play the Detroit Pistons. Takes a little shine off tonight’s nationally televised matchup with the Heat in Miami, where the Knicks are 11-point underdogs. For Miami, Dwyane Wade participated in the team’s shootaround and is listed as a game-time decision. Wade has missed the past
Bargnani out “indefinitely” with calf strain
Raptors forward-center Andrea Bargnani reinjured his strained left calf in the first overtime of Wednesday’s double-overtime victory at Utah. Tests conducted Thursday in Denver revealed no significant damage to the calf. Bargnani will be treated symptomatically and is expected to be sidelined for an indefinite period of time, the Raptors announced today. Bargnani originally injured his calf January 11 against Sacramento. He missed six games from January 13-22. In 13 games this season, Bargnani has averaged a team-leading 23.5 points with 6.4 rebounds, second on the team, in
Hamilton: Time to trade Stoudemire, with suggestions
NEW YORK – Back when the NBA released its truncated 66-game schedule on December 6, tonight’s South Beach matchup featuring the New York Knicks and LeBron’s beach bums was supposed to be a clash of the titans. Instead, it’s an NBA version of Jack and the Beanstalk. Exactly one year ago today, the Amar’e Stoudemire-led Knicks beat the Miami Heat in Madison Square Garden. To that point, it was probably Stoudemire’s most proud moment as a Knick. After the win, his team
A Magical Collapse, and Throwback Failure
// There’s just no other way to say it. It was as if the Boston Celtics were all wearing four-leaf clovers on their jerseys, instead of three. Or maybe the Celtics found Orlando’s kryptonite in…in E’Twaun Moore? The rookie from Perdue scored 16 points and hit all four of his 3-pointers as the Magic stumbled, shouted at the refs, and folded — losing all of a 27-point deficit in a stunning 91-83 loss to Boston. When 3:11 remained in the second quarter,
Fantasy Spin: Wednesday, Jan. 25
Highlight Performance: Stephen Curry, GS– The former Davidson star had a huge night on wednesday, posting 32 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and hit 6-8 from long
range. Curry is a huge talent and a fantastic shooter, but his all-around production wednesday was phenomenal. The key for Curry this season has been health, as he has only played in 8 games due to his problematic ankle. If hisBernucca: Bulls banged up but not beaten down
Injuries may have finally caught up with the Chicago Bulls. But no one has caught up with them in the Eastern Conference. Late in Wednesday’s loss to Indiana – Chicago’s first at home this season – Derrick Rose turned on the afterburners, sped to the basket and whipped a bullet pass to the weakside corner for a potential go-ahead 3-pointer by his small forward. However, standing in the corner was not Luol Deng, who is out with a wrist injury. In his
Tonight’s best game: Boston at Orlando
The Orlando Magic host the Boston Celtics in the NBA’s best game Thursday night, three days after they were embarrassed in Beantown. And no one should be more embarrassed than Jameer Nelson. Nelson has gotten off to an awful start this season. He appeared to turn a corner last week with a pair of 17-point games, but that turn only took him down a dark alley. In Monday’s 87-56 loss, Nelson “piloted” the Magic’s offense to the lowest total in franchise history.
