Highlight Performance:
DeMarcus Cousins, SAC– The behemoth center out of Kentucky, when mentally committed, is simply a beast around the paint. Although he can hit mid-range jumpers, he can rip down boards with the best of em. Against the Hornets, a team without Carl Landry and Jason Smith due to injuries, Cousins had his way, scoring 28 points, grabbing 19 rebounds, 3 blocks, and a steal. This was a monstrous game, but coming off his 21 point-20 rebound effort a few nights ago, Cousins is no longer surprising anyone. Cousins is quickly becoming one of the best centers in the league, and his only concern is his attitude (which is awful, might I add). With the right matchup, Cousins has the ability to go 20-20+ on any night with ease.
Performance to Forget:
Gerald Wallace, POR– One has to wonder how significant the return of Nicolas Batum may be to Gerald Wallace’s value. Wallace was simply a non-factor Monday Night, scoring 4 points, grabbing 5 rebounds and dishing out 4 assists. Portland seems to be developing some common occurrences; Aldridge scores most of the points, Camby rips down most of the rebounds, and then the rest of the team plays their roles (Crawford Scoring, Felton Assists, ect.). Well, the issue with this is that there isn’t much of a role for Wallace. He isn’t a true scorer, rebounder, or passer. He is great defensively, but that does not always produce fantasy points. Until I see Wallace being consistent in something, I just cannot consider him a great fantasy asset right now, especially with Batum back in the lineup.
Player to Watch:
Jeremy Lin, NYK– If you haven’t heard about the undrafted, Harvard graduate yet, then you are just not a basketball fan. Lin, coming out of literally nowhere, seized the starting point guard job last night, scoring 28 points, dishing out 8 assists, and 2 steals. He is still very inexperienced and raw, shown by his 8 turnovers, but Lin has quickly solidified himself as the starting point guard for the Knicks, which could provide some great value. Lin will have his quiet nights, but he looked good last night, and I would quickly pounce in any league in which he is available.
