Smith, back from his stint playing in China, is finally back in the USA and ready to make an impact in the NBA. This is nothing to sneeze at, however. Smith is a phenomenal athlete, and makes an immediate impact wherever he decides to land. The Knicks seem to be close to getting a deal done, which would make them an even scarier team down the stretch. With Smith, the Knicks could roll out a lineup of Jeremy Lin, Smith, Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler, and Amare Stoudemire, then have Landry Fields, Baron Davis, Iman Shumpert, Jared Jeffries, and Steve Novak coming off the bench. The Knicks, after being one of the NBA’s biggest disappointments less than a month ago, may be NBA Finals contenders before we know it. Don’t overlook this signing; JR Smith can play.

The Knicks just added another one-dimensional player, they’ll score 110 ppg but they’ll give up 111. They thought that they could get far with two All-Stars, but both Amare and Carmelo are overrated one-dimensional players. These types of players do no lead a team to a championship – unless the coach instills a defensive mentality.

Not just 9 names you mentioned above for NYK depth chart. You forgot Josh Harrellson and Baron Davis. Both injured right now, but both strong contributors when they get back.

If baron is healthy he also is as dangerous in this mix.
