Fantasy Challenge: Beat Sheridan on Wednesday night

I have been playing fantasy hoops with a new team every night quite a bit on DraftStreet lately, and I cashed Monday night (won $20) by finishing tied for $14th place with a lineup of Dwight Howard, Kyle Lowry, Serge Ibaka, Ryan Anderson, Arron Afflalo, DeAndre Jordan, Kevin Martin and Gustavo Ayon.

It cost me $5 to enter, and the $15 profit will be used to defray the cost of my all-stromboli diet (Not kidding).

The winner in that $5 tournament was someone named Coleman19, who used a lineup of Dirk Nowitzki, Jeremy Lin, Howard, Nicolas Batum, Michael Pietrus, Ersan Ilyasova, Martin and Zaza Pachulia. He pocketed $250 for his $5 investment.

We’ve been running freerolls here every Friday for a month now, and the response has been fantastic. We’re doing another freeroll this Thursday, and there is a special Wednesday edition that’ll cost you $11 to enter.

There is a limit of 50 entrants, and the prize pool is $500 —  $175 for first place, $115 for second, $85 for third, $60 for fourth, $40 for fifth place, and $25 for sixth.

Anybody who beats me gets an extra $5 deposited into their account.

Despite my small success last night, my performances in the freerolls on this site have been rather pedestrian: 50/356, 134/358, 222/619, 312/395, 155/454 and dead last of 479 last week when I forgot to hit “save team.” (Don’t make that same mistake).

Here are the rules:

You start with an imaginary salary cap of $100,000. You draft eight players: Two centers, two forwards, two guards and two utility players.

You get 2 points for every steal and block, 1.5 points for every assist, 1.25 points for every rebound, 1 points for every point scored. You lose one point for every turnover, and you lose a half-point for every missed shot.
