- Kobe Bryant and the best of the West held off a furious East comeback, winning 152-149 in the NBA’s 61st All-Star Game. Bryant scored 27 points, moving past Michael Jordan as the career scoring leader in the game. MVP Kevin Durant had 36, and Thunder teammate Russell Westbrookfinished with 21. LeBron James and the East cut a 21-point deficit to one in the closing seconds, but weren’t able to move in front. James had 36 points and fellow Heat star Dwyane Wade finished with a triple-double — 24 points, 10 assists, 10 rebounds.
- The Nets have signed former NBA Slam Dunk champion Gerald Green to a 10-day contract. Green, 26, was drafted 18th overall by the Boston Celtics in 2005, straight outta high school. He won the 2007 Slam Dunk competition, but was out of the league after playing 28 games with the Mavericks in 2008-09. He was most recently with the D-Fenders of the D-League, winning the D-League All-Star MVP last week. New York Daily News

- There has been talk that Howard would like to join Deron Williams, and some have taken the friendship leap to the extreme. However sources cautioned that while Dwight and Deron are friends from their Team USA time together, they are not nearly as tight as LeBron and Wade were. There is a real sense that both Howard and Williams would welcome playing together but neither is going to commit just because of a friendship.
