Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau will coach the Eastern Conference All-Stars for the 2012 NBA All-Star Game to be played on Sunday, Feb. 26, at the Amway Center in Orlando. The Bulls (24-7, .774) clinched the best record in the conference through games played Feb. 15 with their 121-115 win over the Sacramento Kings tonight at the United Center. Thibodeau, the NBA’s reigning Coach of the Year, is in his second season in Chicago. Last season, he guided the Bulls to an

Tonight’s best game: Miami at Indiana
The Miami Heat can join some very exclusive company Tuesday night. The Heat complete the 20th set of back-to-back-to-back games when they visit the Indiana Pacers in the NBA’s best game. They can become just the third team to win all three – and the first to do it entirely on the road. Previously, only the Chicago Bulls and Oklahoma City Thunder have gone 3-for-3 over the most unforgiving portion of their schedule. The Bulls beat Detroit, won at Minnesota and defeated
Linsanity update: Colbert Report version, and jersey auction
There is politically correct humor, there are politically incorrect tweets, and there are fake Jeremy Lin Twitter accounts that are so uproariously funny but so far beyond the boundaries of good taste that we will resist the urge to publicize them. Linsanity knows no limits, Linsanity has gone mainstream, and Linsanity goes international tonight when Jeremy Lin’s team goes north of the border to play the Toronto Raptors. Take a couple minutes to watch Stephen Colbert’s take on Linsanity from last night’s
Hubbard: All-time Lakers and Celtics award winners
In the last week, Kobe Bryant became the fifth-leading scorer in NBA history and Paul Pierce surpassed Larry Bird and now trails only John Havlicek as the leading scorer in Celtics history. Although each achievement was exceptional, such feats are not allowed to stand on their own. Not in sports. When records are set, there is a larger discussion – is that player the greatest of all-time in that sport or for that franchise? And if not, it is absolutely mandatory
Mavs hold off Clippers, Heat destroy Bucks
Let’s check in on last year’s Finals participants, shall we? There was quite a game in Dallas, where the Mavericks were trying to extend their winning streak and the Clippers were trying to complete a spiffy 5-1 road trip. The night began and ended with Caron Butler. Butler spent last season with the Mavericks. He began as their starting small forward and helped Dallas to a 24-8 start before suffering a torn patellar tendon that cost him the rest of the season.
Fantasy Spin: Tuesday Feb. 14
What Happened on Monday? The Magic beat the Timberwolves, though not because Dwight Howard dominated Nikola Pekovic. Pek double-doubled (16-13) and stayed out of foul trouble, D-12 settled for 11 and 7 with no blocks while playing just 28 minutes due to five fouls. The Minny wings (Wes Johnson and Martell Webster, starting for absent Luke Ridnour) were outplayed by veterans Jason Richardson and Hedo Turkoglu. Philly had little trouble winning by nine in Charlotte. Run to the waiver wire for Corey
Monday’s NBA Post-Game Notes
LeBron James tied a career-high Monday by shooting 76.2 percent (16-21 FG) , matching a similar shooting performance he had against the Hawks last season (16-21 FG, 3/18/11). Even Though James picked on almost everyone defending him, he did the bulk of his work against Carlos Delfino, scoring 15 of his game-high 35 points against him. Caron Butler, in his return to Dallas, scored a season-high 23 points, and just missed hitting the go ahead three with less than 5 seconds
Hornets G Gordon needs knee scope, out 6 more weeks
Eric Gordon’s nightmare season continues. It began with the young shooting guard being shipped from the Los Angeles Clippers to the New Orleans Hornets as the key piece in return for Chris Paul. After making the game-winning shot in a season-opening victory over Phoenix, Gordon sat out four games with a bruised knee. He played once more and has not seen any action since. When the extension deadline rolled around, Gordon and agent Rob Pelinka could not get a deal from the Hornets,
