Sam Amick: Wilson Chandler is visiting Toronto to discuss a possible pairing with the Raptors, according to his agent, Chris Luchey. Twitter Does Deron Williams leave NJ this summer? Chad Ford: Probably. The only scenario where he doesn’t is if the Nets swing a deal for Dwight Howard at the trade deadline. At that point, I think Williams hangs around. If that doesn’t happen, I think Williams will join Dwight Howard (assuming he’s not traded to the Lakers in March) in Dallas next summer. Lots

Tonight’s best game: L.A. Lakers at Dallas
The Los Angeles Lakers make their first trip to Dallas this season tonight, looking to prove they can win on the road as both teams’ stars are heating up for All-Star weekend. Kobe Bryant (32.3 over his last three games, league-leader at 29 ppg) and Dirk Nowitzki (29.3 points, 11 rebounds, 31-of-66 shooting over last three) face off in Dallas’ last game before a much-needed breather. L.A., 14-2 at home, beat Dallas 73-70 on a late 3-pointer by Derek Fisher January 16th
Jeremy Evans replaces Iman Shumpert in Slam Dunk Contest
Utah Jazz forward Jeremy Evans will replace Iman Shumpert of the New York Knicks in Saturday’s Slam Dunk Contest at All-Star Weekend. The NBA announced the switch Wednesday. Shumpert has tendinitis in his left knee. The 6-9 Evans is in his second season. Of his 88 career baskets, 61 have been dunks, including 30 alley-oops. The four-player dunk field remains all first-time participants and exclusively forwards. Evans joins Houston’s Chase Budinger, Indiana’s Paul George and Minnesota’s Derrick Williams – not exactly name recognition. Believe
Heisler’s Wednesday Power Rankings
Let’s see, what happened before Jeremy Lin? It’s hard to remember that far back. I think there was a lockout, after which New Orleans traded Chris Paul to the Clippers, who then began eclipsing the Lakers with some highlight dunk that Blake Griffin fired in over the heads of the Thunder. Meanwhile, in the East, the Bulls got off to a great start, before Derrick Rose started getting back spasms. Then came Jeremy…. No, this isn’t another one of those stories gushing about him,
Bernucca: And the midseason winner is …
There aren’t many fringe benefits that come with a 66-game schedule, but one cool quirk is that All-Star Weekend is splitting the season almost exactly in half. When the Lakers and Thunder wrap things up late Thursday night, all but six teams will have played half their games as the league takes a four-day break in Orlando, where the forecast is less than ideal. Speaking of less than ideal forecasts, below are our midseason award winners, delivered with the complete understanding that “they
Fantasy Spin: Wednesday, Feb. 22
A chance to win a 12th consecutive game was not as important to the Spurs as getting a night of scheduled rest for Tony Parker and Tim Duncan. With rookies Cory Joseph at PG and Kawhi Leonard at PF, they lost to the Blazers by 40 points. Even D-League callup Eric Dawson played 31 minutes off the bench for San Antonio in one of those games that should be completely ignored by astute fantasy owners. It did mark the first
Spurs win streak ends at 11 as Duncan and Parker sit
The TV was turned off before 11 p.m., and the home office shut down for the night. Yes, the San Antonio Spurs were playing, going for their eighth straight road win and their 12th straight W overall. But truly, they weren’t going for it. Tony Parker and Tim Duncan were being rested by their coach on the second night of a back-to-back, Tiago Splitter and Manu Ginobili were out nursing injuries, and there is only so much Cory Joseph a man can endure. I
Tuesday’s NBA Post-Game Notes
The Hornets are 0-9 this season when allowing 100 or more points, and the Pacers got their first win when allowing 100 or more points. David West finally faced off against his former team, where he played from 2003-2011. Mario Chalmers scored 20 points in the Heat’s win over the Kings, tying a career-high with six three-pointers. The Heat scored 120 points, and all seven Heat players with at least six field goal attempts shot at least 50.0 percent from the floor. At
