NEW YORK — This might be the end of Linsanity as we’ve known it. The Knicks announced Saturday night prior to their game against Cleveland that Lin recently had an MRI that revealed a slight tear to the meniscus in his left knee. Lin will have a minor surgical procedure that will sideline him for 6 weeks. That means Lin will be unavailable before the beginning of May, when the playoffs will already be underway. The news is a major blow to the Knicks.

Terrence Williams has found a home in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO — His attitude was questioned in New Jersey. His spot on the bench seemed permanent in Houston. With the Sacramento Kings, Terrence Williams may have found a place where he is appreciated. The Kings today signed the swingman for the remainder of the season, according to a news release from Kings’ president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie. Williams, currently in his third NBA season, is averaging 7.5 points (.500 FGs, .286 3FGs, .667 FTs), 3.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals per
Scouting Take: Jared Sullinger of Ohio State
When we last looked at Terrence Jones of Kentucky, we noted the significance of returning to school to become a more efficient offensive player. Last year, Ohio State’s Jared Sullinger made national news by deciding to forgo the draft and millions of dollars in a rather weak big man draft. His goal was to improve and to lead his team to the Final Four. He’s done both. What I love most about Sullinger is his combination of a strong mid-range shooting game along
Tonight’s best game: Memphis at Milwaukee
The Milwaukee Bucks and Memphis Grizzlies are both jockeying for playoff position with little room for error. Saturday’s best game will test each team’s mettle as they try to prove they belong in the postseason. So far the Bucks have been pretty convincing. Milwaukee has won nine of its last 12 games and averaged 108 points over its last 10. In Monta Ellis’ first game with the Bucks on March 16th, Milwaukee set a season high with 120 points in a win over
Weijia: Marbury wins title, wants to coach Chinese National Team
BEIJING — The championship that eluded Stephon Marbury in the United States did not elude him in China. After scoring 41 points with seven assists, Marbury was in tears yet again Friday night with the outcome of the game still in doubt. How many times did he cry this season? How many tears had been shed? Even Marbury couldn’t give an accurate count. When he cried for first time Friday night, Game 5 of the CBA Finals was still going on, but Marbury
Sizzling Celts surpass sliding Sixers atop Atlantic Division
When both the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks got off to sputtering starts to their seasons, the Philadelphia 76ers gladly assumed the void at the top of the Atlantic Division, which simultaneously is the worst and most valuable division in the NBA. Despite opening with a five-game road trip, the 76ers grabbed first place before arriving home and held onto it like it was a winning lottery ticket. Since Dec. 28, Philadelphia has not been out of the top spot
Fantasy Spin: Saturday March 31
Chris Bosh returned to the ACC with a 30-point effort (plus 8 REB and 3 BLK) as the Heat were just a little too good in the fourth quarter. Dwayne Wade also had 30 and LeBron James 26, but the entire Miami team stepped up the defensive pressure when it counted. For Toronto, it was a rare night when both Andrea Bargnani (27) and DeMar DeRozan (28) were scoring, thanks to 16 assists from Jose Calderon. Joe Johnson played 15
