Harsh words, but relatively justified, Marbury. You may not be the most well-respected player in the league, but you raise a valid point. D’Antoni has been getting ripped to shreds through the media and New York fan base, and there is no doubt he is regretting his choice of the Knicks over the Chicago Bulls back when both teams were pursuing him in 2008. The Knicks followed up D’Antoni’s departure with a 42-point win over the Trail Blazers. Honestly, I cannot put my finger on exactly when he lost his locker room. Some say his system didn’t work with the players, others say it was a poer play between him and Mike D’Antoni. Regardless, I’m of the opinion this guy is a terrible coach, and will be rooting for one more push from the Knicks behind Mike Woodson.

I second all this, this is one of the saddest examples of bandwagon reporting and split second decision making that drove Dantoni insane. To say this win validates him as a terrible coach who can’t show his fad win the nba again is very shortsighted and downright stupid.

Wow, this is one of the worst articles and continues a trend of nitwit reporters trying to say intelligent things but just being vile and nasty.
Trailblazer’s respectable? Doesn’t he realize that they have more a toxic player environment than even the Knicks and this is not the latest recent game where they found themselves down 30 points at half time. They are NOT a respectable team at the moment and they were one of the few teams who have worse body language than the Knicks.
And Marbury is a loon and there is a reason he is playing in China. Not to mention that his relationship with the Knicks is its own toxic sludge. Anyone who actually writes about his agreeing with Starbury should probably be careful in how own right.
And I can guarantee you DAntoni will be back and soon. The rest of the league understands the fifty ring circus driven by the unholy alliance of James Dolan and a media that has checked all its self respect at the door.

Ok, seeing all of the backlash of this article, I accept my opinion and reporting on the tweet incredibly biased. As a writer, my opinion should be neutral, which is was not in this particular case. However, being a Knick Fan myself, my frustration is justified. The Knicks may have one of the strongest teams in the league on paper, yet they are on the outside looking in for the playoff seeding. Maybe D’Antoni did well as a coach, but based strictly on numbers, there’s no excuse. When a team is doing well, commend the players, but when a team struggles, blame the coach. It’s the nature of the job, and thats the way it is. I apologize for voicing such a frustrated, nasty tweet about D’Antoni, but something went wrong with the Knicks and unfortunately, I blame the coach.
P.S.- I respect the Blazers as a franchise, not necessarily their team at the present moment. I could have predicted a win by the Knicks, but 32 points is a humiliating blowout. These are not the Bobcats, and maybe my respect is unjustified. Once again, more of a personal article than a fact-based one, and consider the point taken.

I’m not a Knicks fan, but a couple of things.
Marbury isn’t “in the league”. The Trailblazers aren’t “respectable.” Do you guys watch basketball? 17 point loss at Indy during which they were down by more. 18 point loss at Boston in which they were down big. Plenty other double-digit losses recently. They’re falling a part.
D’Antoni isn’t getting ripped by all the media, not sure what sources you are reading.
Also, everyone on that team loved playing for him, except the one who matters most, and that’s why he’s gone. Between this and Chris retweeting Woj’s original article except tweeting to all his followers that D’Antoni was fired when Woj never once uttered the word… this stuff makes me want to stop coming to the site and not link to any of the articles here on message boards like I’ve done in the past.

Exactly. Lets see what the Knicks do in their home and home vs the Pacers. Portland looked like the Washington Generals last night. I could have coached the Knicks to a win.

What a really mis informed article. Pretty sure Knicks won by 42pts and not 32. Also they played the exact same offense anyway. Not a big fan, but to say hes a terrible coach with no clue is just straight hate there. He achieved a lot in the western conf and had players at Ny who didnt want to play the system.

Glad you spoke up too. This is just rubbish reporting.
