Add another name to the list of players hoping to sign with a playoff team for the stretch run.
Rasual Butler reached a buyout agreement today with the Toronto Raptors, who waived him just prior to the deadline for retaining playoff eligibility.
Butler was signed as a free agent December 10. The 10-year NBA veteran appeared in 34 games, averaging 3.2 points, 1.9 rebounds and 13.3 minutes.
He was a prolific 3-point shooter as recently as two years ago, when he made 145 of them for the Los Angeles Clippers.
“We want to thank Rasual for bringing professionalism and hard work to our team every day,” general Manager Bryan Colangelo said in a statement. “This move allows us the option to look at other wing prospects down the stretch of the season while affording Rasual the opportunity to potentially sign with and help a playoff-bound team.”
The Raptors’ roster now stands at 12 players heading into tonight’s game vs. New York.
