Memo to “The Picker.”
Meet Gus Forrest (that’s not him pictured, but it is a famous Gus).
Mr.Forrest has been following the picks made on this site by “The Picker,” he thinks he can do better, and he is willing to pick every single game tonight, both against the spread and the over/under, to prove his manliness.
First we’ll give you tonight’s picks from “The Picker,” who is 5-4-1 since undertaking this risk of public humiliation six days ago. He has been holding back some of his best picks, which is not a good thing with his wining percentage.
Tonight, “The Picker” is making four picks. He likes LeBron over 26, Miami -7.5, Dallas -9.5 (buy the half-point), and he says of Chicago-New York: “Like Bulls at -7 right now if Rose plays. I can’t imagine him not playing.”
If Rose sits, that pick is canceled.
Now we turn to Mr. Forrest.
In the Miami-Boston game, he likes the Heat giving 7 1/2 points. “This is the start of a stretch of statement games from them. If they can turn it on and off like they claim, they should go back to winning every game by double digits. And they should dictate the pace playing at home, so we’ll go with the over 183.”
In the New York-Chicago game, he likes the Knicks getting 7 points: “I expect them to lose, but not by that much. They’ve been playing too well, and I’m wondering whether they are in the Bulls’ heads. We’ll take the under on 186.5.”
In the Cleveland-Charlotte game, he’s taking the Cavs giving 6 1/2 points. “I always bet against the Bobcats. Period. Also like the under 195 a lot.”
In the Orlando-Washington game, the line dropped a point when it was announced that Dwight Howard will not play. “Dwight means nothing. The Magic will cover the 4 1/2 points. And I like the under 196.”
In the Sacramento-Dallas game, he’s taking the Mavericks giving nine points. “Last time the Kings played there they scored 60. This is a cover by the end of the first quarter. And I’ll go under 202.5.”
In the Philadelphia-New Jersey game, he’s taking the Nets as 5 1/2-point underdogs. “Good money line bet, too, with Nets at 3-1. Give that to your readers as a bonus. And take the under 186.”
