Another freeroll Friday has arrived, there are only six NBA games on the slate, and there will be no more regular season Fridays until next fall (the regular season ends Thursday, and the playoffs begin a week from tomorrow).
We’ve been running freeroll fantasy contests with DraftStreet.com throughout the season, and many of you have been repeat players — and many of you may have become frustrated by the fact that there are often 600-800 players in the weekly freeroll, making it especially tough to win.
Well, today we have an alternative.
We are running two contests tonight, the regular freeroll and a side contest in which you can win $5 if you finish with a higher score than me. The field is limited to 50 entrants, and the prize pool is $500. It costs $11 to enter.
As always, the rules: You start with an imaginary salary cap of $100,000, and you select a roster of eight players — two guards, two centers, two forwards and two utility players.
You receive 2 points for every block and steal your players produce, 1.5 points for every assist, 1.25 points for every rebound and 1 point for every point your players put on the scoreboard. You lose 1 point for every turnover, and a half-point for every missed shot.
The highest-priced player tonight is Kevin Durant at $19,994. There are some real bargains in there at the $7000-$9000 range, and you can get free advice by reading the latest entry from our fantasy guru, Kent Williams. Also, you should follow him on Twitter.
So here are the two links, and good luck. (Feel free to enter both contests)
As this is a fantasy contest, it is a game of skill and not a game of chance, and thus is legal in Canada and the United States unless you live in Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Montana, Vermont or Puerto Rico, in which case you should contact your state assemblyman or write a letter to your Governor.
My team tonight is Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Josh Smith, Avery Bradley, Metta World Peace, Delonte West, Gary Neal and Hofstra’s own Charles Jenkins.
