Meet D.J. Kennedy, NBA player.
The Cleveland Cavaliers today signed the former St. John’s guard from the Erie Bayhawks, making him the 58th player called up from the D-League this season.
Kennedy will be in uniform Sunday when the Cavaliers play the San Antonio Spurs.
He started all 44 games for the BayHawks, averaging 15.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.6 steals in 37.4 minutes, with eight double-doubles. He was a four-year player at St. John’s and went undrafted last June.
When (if) Kennedy checks into a game for the first time with the Cavs, he will become the 475th player to log NBA playing time this season.
And if he scores two points, he will double the total produced by veteran center Erick Dampier in 14 appearances for the Atlanta Hawks.
There are five players who have logged NBA playing time this season but have not scored: Jamario Moon of Charlotte (five games), Keith Benson of Golden State and Hamadi N’Diaye of Washington (3 games each), along with Kelenna Azubuike of Dallas and Brian Skinner of Memphis (one game each).
