Needless to say, there were plenty of tweets about the performance of LeBron James, who was historically sensational in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Chandler Parsons’ tweet, in particular, was noteworthy because he wrote off the Boston Celtics in predicting a Heat-Thunder Finals. Hasn’t he ever heard of the phrase “don’t ever underestimate the heart of a champion”? The quote did come from the Rockets’ best coach of all time, after all. The way the Heat played tonight, though, Parsons’ sentiment is understandable. The game turned into a complete blowout thanks to James, who was consistently relentless and had 45 points on an astounding 19-of-26 shooting, 15 rebounds and five assists. Those numbers? They were achieved by one other player in NBA playoff history, and his name is Wilt Chamberlain, from 48 years ago.
If James can give us another performance of this magnitude, Parsons’ prediction is certain to become reality, and it would also help quiet down plenty of folks who constantly bash on James’ inability to perform in big games (Skip Bayless, anyone?). All eyes will be on King James heading into Game 7 on Saturday night.
