Tweet of the Day went to Ty Lawson, who took the time to answer some fan questions and declared that he is ready to bring a championship to Denver.
Lawson had a breakout season in his third year in the league, averaging 16.4 points and 6.6 assists as a full-time starter, and showed great promise in the first round of the playoffs against the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games.
That said, a championship for next season or the near future seems unlikely, given the fact that a number of teams in the Western Conference such as the Lakers, Clippers and Mavericks have all upgraded their rosters over the summer. Other powerhouse teams like the Thunder and Spurs aren’t going to suddenly disappear either.
Aside from re-signing JaVale McGee, the Nuggets have not been overly active during the offseason. The team has a promising core of young talent including Kenneth Faried and Danilo Gallinari, but a young core is hardly the recipe to win a championship. If Lawson is serious about his aspirations, he will likely have to ascend to another level to have a crack at a ring.
