$1,000 Sheridan Hoops Fantasy Contest
When you finish drafting your traditional fantasy teams, consider daily leagues. Join the one-day fantasy tournament for Sheridan Hoops readers at FanDuel. There’s a $2 entry fee; $1,000 in cash prizes. First place wins $200, second $125, third $100 and even 61st place doubles your investment. Pick nine players within a $60,000 salary cap and the team that compiles the most fantasy points — on October 31st only — wins.
For more details on the rules and a few strategy tips, see the Oct. 9 Spin, or click on the logo and join Fan Duel — at no cost, with no obligation — and try a free NFL league this weekend. You’ll love it!
Here’s my lineup (with $800 unspent from the $60,000 salary cap) for a 100-player hoops league I just entered. It’s on Oct. 30, the first night of the NBA season. There are only three games, so your choices of players are limited.
PG Kyrie Irving WAS@CLE $7,400
PG Darren Collison DAL@LAL $5,100
SG Kobe Bryant DAL@LAL $8,500
SG O.J. Mayo DAL@LAL $5,500
SF LeBron James BOS@MIA $9,900
SF Shawn Marion DAL@LAL $6,200
PF Elton Brand DAL@LAL $6,200
PF Brandan Wright DAL@LAL $4,700
C Tristan Thompson WAS@CLE $5,700
This is my initial reaction to Dirk Nowitzki’s injury. Five relatively inexpensive Dallas players and a value pick at C let me afford three superstars: James, Bryant and Irving. It doesn’t mean I’ll win, but if I’m right about a high-scoring game in L.A., my chances are good. $25 for first is an excellent return on the $1 entry fee and even 12th place earns $3 cash.
I’ll be making FanDuel picks every day in this space throughout the entire season, spending a $100 weekly bankroll and sharing what I’ve learned.
Later today, don’t miss the conclusion to a terrific six-part series on fantasy strategy. Jeff Nichols shows us how to put all the lessons we’ve learned into practice.
