Of course not, but it’s always easier to gloat or point at something when things are going a certain way. In other words, Simmons – or anyone else for that matter – would have looked great by asking the same rhetorical question last season, but in favor of the Nuggets. In fact, it wouldn’t be entirely surprising if Simmons did just that during some meaningful conversation that went on last season about exactly how bad the trade was for the Knicks. Either that or he was probably laughing at the team’s situation given that he is a die-hard Celtics fan.
It’s still difficult to say who exactly won in the trade between the Knicks and the Nuggets. The fact that the Knicks managed to get Raymond Felton – who was a part of the trade – back on the roster makes it easy to say New York made out like a bandit in the long run, but Denver still has a first round pick and a couple of second round picks from the trade to further determine the value of the deal. Aside from that, it just isn’t fair to make comparisons when players are injured. Chandler, when healthy, is an athletic and versatile forward with the ability to play on both ends of the floor, while Gallinari showed he can be an all-around player last season before suffering various foot and ankle injuries.
In other words – and not to discredit Anthony for how he has come out to start the season – we actually still have plenty of time to look back and determine whether the Knicks would take the trade back in the long run, no matter how great Anthony has looked in the span of a whopping four games.

So you are saying that 4 games in after a season and a half of seeing the other side of Melo (albeit with a sprinkling of the good melo) and the upsides of Gallo and Chandler (who are both injured this year) is enough to start crowing I told you so? That’s pathetic!
Let’s hope good Melo which we have seen for the first two weeks sticks around for the entire season and actually gets out of the first round because when he is good he is one of the top 5 in the league. Only then can we talk. He has the benefit of having the best team he may ever have played with around him. The Knicks seem to have done a great job of putting together a team that seems to fit very well together. It’ll be interesting to see how the players who are out hurt are fit into this group.
