Sits and Starts
My success to date with sits and starts isn’t very encouraging. For the first complete week, I finished 2-2-1 with Matt Barnes and Nikola Pekovic outpointing Carmelo Anthony and Samuel Dalembert respectively. Monta Ellis held off the disappointing Tony Allen and Andrea Bargnani out duelled Kris Humphries (I might be excused for that one because I didn’t foresee Kyle Lowry‘s injury and my first reaction was that it would be a boon for Bargnani). Damian Lillard and Darren Colllison effectively drew.
For last week, I can already see a disaster as Brandon Jennings broke out of his slump, Mario Chalmers faded, Brendan Wright got DNP-CDed and J.J. Hickson opened the week with a monster line putting Meyers Leonard in his place firmly on the bench.
Point Guard
Sit Ty Lawson: I have all the faith that he will turn it on but right now he is being outplayed by his back-up, Andre Miller, and has a tough slate of defenses to face this week.
Start Kemba Walker: he has improved in every facet of the game and is largely the reason behind Charlotte’s surprise start. His speed will cause fits for Brandon Jennings, Jose Calderon and A.J. Price.
Shooting Guard
Sit Gordon Hayward: he has been up and down and the transformation of Paul Millsap to small forward eats into his playing time. Also, DeMarre Carroll impressed Friday night and needs to be given another look. Both are bad for Hayward’s minutes.
Start Jodie Meeks: Mike D’Antoni likes his floor spacing shooters and Meeks is the best one on the Lakers. If he gets hot from outside, he could become a must add in standard formats.
Small Forward
Sit Andrei Kirilenko: AK47 has been great but has logged heavy minutes with all the injuries and is getting more defensive attention. New signee Josh Howard also plays his position. Fortunately for his owners, he contributes even if he doesn’t score.
Start Matt Barnes: I’ll go back to the well here. Barnes contributes across the board and should continue to earn big minutes with a full slate of road games.
Power Forward
Sit Tristan Thompson: he has been consistent so far this year but will be pushed for minutes now that Tyler Zeller is back. Thaddeus Young is a shutdown defender, Glen Davis can be very tricky for a player so young, and Miami’s run and gun style will be hard for Thompson.
Start Andray Blatche: he is slowly stealing minutes from Kris Humphries and gets the weak second units of @LAL, @GSW and POR this week.
Center
Sit Roy Hibbert: this one is for his fantasy owners, as my slump-based sits have a tendency to snap them out of it. Overrated heading into the season, he has under-performed the most dire forecasts.
Start Nikola Vucevic: he keeps proving me wrong with strong rebounding and OK scoring lines. An easy four-game slate should only help him, especially as the one tough opponent (BOS) can’t rebound.
