Other November 18 Games
IND @ NYK: Not the prettiest exhibition of basketball, but Carmelo Anthony (26 PTS, 9 REB) was the difference as the Knicks improved to 7-1 and the 4-7 Pacers continued to struggle. Paul George had 20 in the losing cause, but Indiana scored just 30 in the first half and never seriously threatened. A glance at the Popcorn Machine Game Flow shows that the Knicks barely needed their starters down the stretch.
ORL @ TOR: If your league counts AST/TO ratio, you already love Jose Calderon and aren’t all that surprised at his 18/2 mark against Jameer Nelson, who is still not 100% healthy. Calderon also got Andrea Bargmani involved (17 PTS) and DeMar Derozan scored a game-high 20 as the Raptors poured it on in the fourth quarter to win.
J.J. Redick sat out with the flu; Glen Davis got his double-double (16 & 12) but the Magic lacked offensive punch with rookieSF DeQuan Jones among the starting five. For Toronto, Dominic McGuire (11 PTS) started again at SF, with Linas Kleiza (12) playing five more minutes off the bench. Amir Johnson (15 PTS, 5 REB, 2 STL) did a nice job in relief of Jonas Valanciunas (6 PTS, 7 REB) as coach Dwane Casey shortened his rotation.
BOS @ DET: The fourth game in five nights was too much for the Celtics, though Rajon Rondo stayed in long enough to keep his meaningless double-figure AST streak alive. So far, so good for Kyle Singler (14 PTS) and his owners, though he was in foul trouble. Rodney Stuckey might thrive as the sixth man; he scored 14 in 30 minutes. Brandon Knight had a lousy game (6 PTS, 5 TO) against Rondo, but Greg Monroe was a beast — 20 PTS, 13 REB — and Jason Maxiell added 15.
