How concerned should the Los Angeles Lakers be right now?
One day after edging out a win against the Brooklyn Nets, the team went into Arco Arena on Wednesday and lost to the Sacramento Kings – the team with the worst record in the Western Conference.
You can’t blame the loss on Kobe Bryant, who continued his torrid pace on offense – scoring 38 points on 11-of-20 shooting – despite playing on a sore foot.
The problem in this one can be attributed to the rest of the starting lineup, which was mostly absent for much of the night. Dwight Howard mysteriously had just seven points and nine rebounds while playing over 40 minutes and Pau Gasol scored eight points on just three-of-10 shooting.
Perhaps the back-to-back schedule got the best of the Lakers in this one, but the fact that it happened on the road should be of concern – they were just 15-18 on the road last season and have lost all three games away from home this season.
