Panic is setting in once again in Lakerland, with the latest piece of drama coming when Kobe Bryant called out Pau Gasol following Sunday night’s pitiful loss to the Orlando Magic. Here’s the thing, though: When Gasol came out of the game with 6-plus minutes left, the Lakers were ahead by one. And then they gave up 31 points over the final 6 half of the fourth quarter.
That, folks, is a defensive problem that only exacerbates Gasol’s offensive woes. His scoring is down seven points, his shooting percentage is down 9 points, and he seems as lost in Mike D’Antoni’s offense as he did in Mike Brown’s. But at last Brown let him play in fourth quarters.
