The tone for the game was set by Carmelo Anthony from the get-go, as the forward went off for 22 first-quarter points and finished the night with 30 points, before leaving the game after suffering a sprained ankle in the third quarter.
Kobe Bryant did all he could to match Anthony’s scoring with 31 points, but his team’s inability to defend continued, as they allowed the Knicks to shoot 53.2 percent from the field and 12-of-25 from the 3-point line.
After the game, Bryant wished he could play against the Washington Generals.
Luckily for him, the Lakers actually will play a pretty horrendous team in the Washington Wizards on Friday. It is, however, on a back-to-back situation and on the road. As crazy as it may sound, it wouldn’t be too surprising if the Lakers somehow managed to drop that game as well with their current struggles and if they do, all hell is bound to break loose.
