If you’re not watching the Clippers whenever you can right now, why?
For my money, they’re the most entertaining team in the NBA, and they’ve got a very legitimate claim to being the absolute best as well. Last night’s game against the Jazz was as fun as the NBA gets. Get on it. Use caffeine if necessary, East Coasters.
While the Clippers are tearing up the world on the West coast, on the East coast the Nets are struggling, even with a win over the lowly Bobcats. They fired Avery Johnson two days ago, and since then the speculation has been nonstop on whether Phil Jackson would return to coaching to take the Brooklyn job. Chris Sheridan thinks he will. You can have your say in our new poll.
Now, as usual, the latest from the NBA, bullet-style. Enjoy.
- Here’s Eric Pincus of the L.A. Times, who talked to one of the many cogs in the Clipper machine, Matt Barnes: “According to an NBA executive, one of the main reasons the Clippers have won so many in a row is ‘Matt Barnes is playing out of his mind.’ When told of the comments, Barnes’ response included a slam of ex-Lakers coach, Mike Brown. ‘I’ve been working hard these past few summers. Last year, playing with the Lakers, I was told when I could shoot. If I made mistakes, I’d come out of the game,’ said Barnes. ‘This year [Coach] Vinny [Del Negro] has installed a lot of trust in me. He lets me go out there and play my game. If I mess up, he still sticks with me and that goes a long way with any player.’ “
