James Johnson, of all players, hit a game-winning 3-pointer to ice the game for the Kings – giving J.R. Smith and New York a taste of its own medicine. Smith had also ended the previous game against the Phoenix Suns with his second game-winning jumper of the season.
The Knicks were on the verge of achieving the biggest comeback in franchise history, which would have been quite impressive, given the injuries to Carmelo Anthony, Raymond Felton and Amare Stoudemire. Instead, they will head back home with a 1-2 record from a 3-game road trip.
The good news is, they’ll be off for the next three days before hosting the Portland Trailblazers at home – where they are 12-2 on the season. Hopefully for the team, Anthony and Stoudemire will be ready to return to game action by then.
