January 6 Games
OKC @ TOR: This is a 1:00 EST matinee, so be sure to set those daily lineups. It’s also no contest, as Toronto is ridiculously undersized, or in the case of their one healthy large body (Aaron Gray) underskilled. They have been using guards (Landry Fields and Alan Anderson) at PF and if the Kings pushed them around, the Thunder certainly will.
WAS @ MIA: Another mismatch on paper, as the Wizards take their 1-14 road record into Miami, where the Heat are 15-3. Look for an improved focus on rebounding by LeBron James and Chris Bosh, who got outmuscled in a loss to the Bulls on Friday. For Washington, Bradley Beal and Jordan Crawford have some fantasy value and Nene has been playing well, staying healthy through seven starts.
CHA @ DET: It’s been three years since the Pistons won five in a row. They are playing extremely well as a team, while getting huge contributions from the second unit (Austin Daye, Andre Drummond and Rodney Stuckey). Charlotte has Kemba Walker, plus a couple of bench gunners in Ramon Sessions and Ben Gordon, but are so thin up front that career underachievers Tyrus Thomas and Hakim Warrick are in the rotation.
MEM @ PHO: Without Zach Randolph (flu) the Grizzlies lost at home on Friday. Marreese Speights would fill in again if Z-Bo can’t go tonight. This projects as low-scoring — the Suns are offensively-challenged and Memphis has the league’s best D. Rudy Gay might be the go-to guy, and how well Mike Conley plays against Goran Dragic may decide the outcome.
DEN @ LAL: The nightcap is the most interesting Sunday game. Denver had to play last night, then travel, while the Lakers haven’t left L.A. for ten days, though they lost a tough ‘road’ game in their own arena on Friday. Dwight Howard has a strained rotator cuff, and may not be fully effective if he does play. Pau Gasol is either hurt (foot) or a bad fit in Mike D’Antoni’s offense. Or both. Go all-in on Kobe Bryant in daily leagues.
