Howard makes $19.2 million, and the combined salaries of Lopez, Teletovic, Brooks and Taylor add up to roughly $18.3 million. Do I believe the Nets would put all those pieces in a single trade? No.
But would they include three of the four to land the big fish they’ve been after for two years? Yup, I would think.
Especially if that move would help ensure that Phil Jackson would come aboard as head coach.
Jackson, meanwhile, seems in no rush to make up his mind. And the Lakers, we should add, are in no rush to make a trade.
Nobody in the NBA is, with the trading deadline still seven weeks away.
In the interim, stay tuned. Surprises happen every single season in the NBA, and we’ve only had one major one in 2012-13 — the James Harden-to-Houston trade. Some would say we are overdue for No. 2.

First of all the report of Dwight and Kobe beefing is false. See Kobe’s twitter post today. Second of all, the Lakers would rather call Dwight’s bluff and let him leave 20 million and the chance to be the face of the Lakers on the table than trade him for anything the Nets have to offer. They’re saving cap space for the 2014 FA bonanza.

Once a Knick, always a Knick. He may have finished his playing career with the *New Jersey* Nets, but Phil will never coach the Brooklyn *Nyets*

You are out of your mind if you think a) that matters at all to him and b) that he considers himself more of a Knick than a Bull or Laker
Daniel says
Think what you want – it ain’t happening.

$ MAKES EVERYTHING HAPPEN JUST CAUSE KNICKS DONT HAVE ANY DONT BE MAD

Huh?
Yeah, the Knicks are broke.
You know the coach’s salary doesn’t count against the cap, right?
Lmao…

The Nets have a PF who can knock down a 17-feet shot – Mirza Teletovic. And he just had a pretty solid game as soon as he got the more PT.

I want to know what the Lakers can put together to acquire Brook Lopez. It would have to include Dwight…
BrooklynNets says
Nothing. We have NO interest in giving up Lopez, especially for Dwight. This ship has sailed. If the Lakers are interested in a package built around Humphries and assets (we have Euro-stashes, picks, young players) than fine.
Otherwise, Howard is an injured commodity. No thank you.
Daniel says
I think it’s kinda funny how you think the Nets are in an aggressor’s position to dictate a power deal here – especially after whiffing once already on Howard. Why the hell would the Lakers want Lopez? Kobe is set to retire in two years, and then Hollywood belongs to Dwight Howard.
Howard is an injured commodity, lol…. like Lopez doesn’t break his foot practically every season. Smh.
