It’s been a pretty good week for Chris Sheridan, whose Tuesday scoop about Phil Jackson got this site (and its publisher) some well-deserved attention. Last night, while my daily league teams again floundered, user ‘sheridanhoops’ won $200 for third place in the $11 GPP contest. If he wasn’t so busy running SH, writing columns, doing media appearances, or talking to coaches, GMs, players and other contacts — on and off the record — the boss would give pretty good fantasy advice.
(His team was Derrick Williams, Marcin Gortat, Nate Robinson, Chris Paul, DeMarre Carroll, Larry Sanders, Al Jefferson and Al Horford.)
Be sure to enter tomorrow’s Sheridan Hoops Freeroll, where you could win $100 cash, and there’s nothing to lose. It’s free to join, easy to learn and loads of fun, even if you aren’t one of the 15 prize winners who will share a total of $300. There are already over 300 entries, and always room for one more.
We also have a very special contest on Saturday, exclusive to SH readers. Beat me and win! It’s a 40-man league, with an $11 entry fee. In addition to $400 in prize money, everyone who finishes ahead of me earns an extra $5. The entry link for that one will be here tomorrow.
If my luck doesn’t change before Saturday, that will be the easiest five bucks you ever made. My $100 bankroll this week is down to $52, after a third straight winless night. That’s how it goes in daily leagues; last week I had one very good night and six disappointments, but still turned a 17.5% profit. With only three games on the NBA calendar this evening, player choices are more limited, and I’m hoping to turn things around.

The chart makes five suggestions in each of three price ranges. LeBron James is very expensive, as always. The problem if you use him is a lack of outstanding options in the lower price ranges. I’m going to take a chance on Steve Novak, who could get extra minutes with Carmelo Anthony suspended, but will pass on LBJ — who is banged-up and playing a tough defensive team — to focus on more medium-priced guys.
F1 David West (IND-F) $12,131
F2 Steve Novak (NY-F) $5,387
G1 Paul George (IND-G) $14,961
G2 Wesley Matthews (POR-G) $12,978
C1 DeMarcus Cousins (SAC-C) $17,556
