Williams’ feel of slight is understandable. To be fair, though, he has been sitting out for quite some time – 18 consecutive games to be exact – with the terrible thumb injury, and isn’t returning back any time soon.
In the words of Jeff Van Gundy, this is a “what have you done for me lately” league, and missing a significant amount of time for any reason will cause folks to forget about you at times. In all likelihood, this is probably what happened when Simmons made his statement.
Of course, it could also just be that Simmons may not have the strongest of faith in Williams in general. If that’s the case, the guard can go ahead and hate away on the ESPN analyst.
