Sunday was ’70s night in Rip City.
The Trail Blazers, who were had lost eight of their previous ten games and had been on a seven-game losing streak, defeated the Boston Celtics 92-86 behind the strong play of their shooting guard. Wesley Matthews was on fire, leading all scorers with 24 points on 72.7-percent shooting.
On the heels of snapping their skid on ’70s night, teammates LaMarcus Aldridge and Meyers Leonard met the media Monday dressed for the 1980s.
It seems that Leonard cheated by opting not to wear the short shorts. Aldridge looked more natural in his retro duds. It’s nice to see that they can take things in stride and still have some fun.
The Blazers season hasn’t been spectacular, but they’re playing hard and competing. They currently sit only four games out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
