In lamens terms, the theory of relativity explains: the faster you travel, the more time slows. But a person moving at a slower speed would experience time differently than a person moving at the speed of light.
Is it possible that Kobe Bryant is disproving Einstein’s theory of relativity by moving at a slower speed, yet playing at the speed of light?
“He told me when he beat us last year in the playoffs that he was getting old,” Karl told the Los Angeles Daily News before the Lakers faced Denver on Monday night at Pepsi Center.
“He was lying. He looks younger and healthier than he did last year.”
Look around the NBA. Jason Kidd, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, all elite and long-tenured players with 15-plus years of experience, like Bryant, have seen their production decrease significantly in 2012-13:
- Jason Kidd: 6.8 points, 3.5 assists, 4.1 rebounds per game
- Ray Allen: 11 points, 1.7 assists, 2.9 rebounds per game
- Paul Pierce: 18.5 points, 4.5 assists, 6.3 rebounds per game
- Kobe Bryant: 27.2 points, 5.6 assists, 5.4 rebounds per game
Kidd, Allen and Pierce have all been direct competitors of Bryant throughout his entire career, all sharing a class of their own for the majority of the last two decades. That is, until, Kidd, Allen Pierce began to fall off while Kobe has remained constant — just like the speed of light — and is still being compared to the games elite: LeBron, Wade, Durant, etc.
“I am getting older,” said Bryant to the Los Angeles Daily News. “It doesn’t mean I’m getting any worse.

The VinoxMamba is capable of anything he puts his mind to.
Now to open a bottle of fine wine.

First, Kobe never said he was replacing “Black Mamba” with “vino”.
Second, he does not “originate” from Italy. He’s an American-born son of an NBA player who moved to Italy to play basketball. They moved when Kobe was 6 years old.

Love the new nickname so much more than the Mamba. It sounds better and meaning is cooler.
Re: Kobe aging. If Pierce, Allen (and others that are in the same age bracket–which is why I left Kidd out–he’s older than all of them) had kept himself in shape to the point Kobe does, they could’ve lasted longer I think. Look at Nash. While he’s lost a step, he’s in better shape than Kidd by far. Kareem played till he was 40 at a high level while Gasol’s numbers are slipping at 32 due to poor conditioning.
