Another Week, Another Small Profit
There is still no rush to quit my day job for what has become a very pleasant and rewarding hobby. Since Christmas, I’m well ahead in Salary Cap leagues, and breaking even in Snake draft and Pick ‘Em formats, with modest wins in a majority of weeks more than cancelling out the inevitable brief slumps.
On Sunday, I won a 3-man Snake ($13.50) and finished second in a 6-man ($9.45) plus two of my three $2 teams in the $600 Guaranteed Prize Pool contest earned consolation prizes for coming 17th ($10) and 27th ($5) among 330 entries. The $100 bankroll showed a 16% profit last week and we start over today, with an interesting 7-game slate to choose from.

Far be it from me to recommend that you don’t use the amazing LeBron James, but his astronomical salary, a sore leg and the chance of garbage time limiting his minutes make me look elsewhere tonight. The Blazers could run up the score, so I’m using three of them in the following guard-heavy lineup, subject to change until the 7:00 EST deadline.
F1 Meyers Leonard (POR-F) $7,074
F2 Andrea Bargnani (TOR-F) $5,985
G1 Stephen Curry (GS-G) $18,350
G2 Greivis Vasquez (NO-G) $15,823
C1 J.J. Hickson (POR-C) $16,685
C2 Enes Kanter (UTA-C) $10,905
U1 Damian Lillard (POR-G) $14,002
U2 Klay Thompson (GS-G) $11,155
Clearly, I’ve ‘punted’ the Forward position, hoping that two bargain-priced longshots produce enough to be useful. At C, if Al Jefferson returns for Utah, I’ll replace Enes Kanter. It’s always a fascinating challenge just to narrow down all the possibilities to the 15 in the chart, but even they can be assembled into thousands of different 8-man combinations.
There will be another Freeroll this Friday, with entries open later today, and we’re working on a great new variation to the Beat Sheridan Challenge, where you get $5 cash just for finishing ahead of our founder and publisher. Details here tomorrow.
