MURESAN REGION
8. Kevin Murphy, Utah
RECAP: Murphy is the feel-good story of the tournament, having won Utah’s automatic bid by traversing a harrowing journey through the NBDL and ending up on the Jazz bench. And it’s UPSET CITY as he knocks Asik out of the Most Improved Player Tournament bracket!!! YOU HAVE JUST SEEN THE BIGGEST UPSET IN THE HISTORY OF THIS TOURNAMENT!!!! This was Gus Johnson’s reaction.
4. Eric Bledsoe, LA Clippers vs.
5. LeBron James, Miami
RECAP: This may be the most anticipated matchup of the tournament, and it’s fitting that it came in the Muresan bracket. We all know LeBron has been the best player in the league for years, but he’s been Harlem Shake-ridiculous this season. The man is shooting 56 percent from the field. 56 percent!! This bracket is about to get interesting as LeBron moves on.
3. David Lee, Golden State vs.
6. O.J. Mayo, Dallas
RECAP: Lee moves on because Dallas is god-awful.
2. Greivis Vasquez, New Orleans vs.
7. Avery Bradley, Boston
RECAP: Greivis thwacks Bradley like he’s a Northeast Conference school.
SEIKALY REGION
1. Nikola Vucevic, Orlando vs.
8. Alan Anderson, Toronto
RECAP: Vucevic rolls in typical top-seeded fashion, then celebrates by eating Kyle Lowry. He’s a beast.
4. Joakim Noah, Chicago vs.
5. Andray Blatche, Brooklyn
RECAP: Noah has been overlooked in this column as a MIP candidate but that will not continue. He wins in impressive fashion over Blatche.
3. Stephen Curry, Golden State vs.
6. Ed Davis, Memphis
RECAP: Curry was a good player in years past, but scoring 54 at the Garden? Nah, he never did that. He moves on right now because nobody can stop him.
2. Kemba Walker, Charlotte vs.
7. Shannon Brown, Phoenix
RECAP: Walker rolls past Brown in Round 1, then admits to the media that he made a mistake in not recruiting Ryan Gomes.
