- It’s been a long wait, but SheridanHoops’ latest Free Agent rankings are finally out, check out more to see who cracked Mighty Moke’s list: “The Atlanta Hawks will have truckloads of money under the cap this season, and most believe that GM Danny Ferry has his eyes set firmly on Dwight Howard. But if you’re Mark Cuban, and Chris Paul let it be known that he wanted to come play for you and with Dirk Nowitzki, do you make a run at him? Or would you go out and try to use the available cap space on, say, Al Jefferson and Brandon Jennings?”
- According to NBA.com, former Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders is representing a group in the process of buying the Minnesota franchise, which could be the best thing possible for the city: “Ever since Glen Taylor put the Timberwolves on the market last summer, the longtime owner has been in search of an ownership group that would keep the team in Minnesota for the long haul.”
- More from the AP: “If Minnesota native Flip Saunders is involved, the odds of that happening would seem pretty good. Taylor confirmed on Monday night that he has had conversations with the former coach, who approached Taylor at the behest of a group of prospective buyers. The identities of the investors were not immediately known. But if they are successful in purchasing the team, Saunders would be expected to take over as the leader of basketball operations.”
- After starting off the season well for the Knicks, reserve point guard Pablo Prigioni may not be back with the team next season, according to the New York Post: “Knicks point guard Pablo Prigioni said he is unsure he will seek another NBA contract this summer when he becomes a free agent. Prigioni added it’s still possible he will return to the Spanish League to finish up his distinguished career. Asked if he wanted to return to the Knicks next season, Prigioni, the oldest rookie in the modern NBA at 35, said he can’t tell and needs a full season to evaluate. But Prigioni told The Post he is not retiring.”
- And without fail, Dwight Howard has made his way back into the headlines. To his credit, he had a good run of about 10 days after the All-Star break. Heck, the Lakers even got a few wins out of him. In a recent interview, Howard bashed his former teammates in Orlando: “When asked about his less-than-sunny on-court demeanor, Howard took the opportunity to bash his ex-team, the Orlando Magic:
“I always say, hey, my team in Orlando was a team full of people nobody wanted, and I was the leader. I led that team with a smile on my face.”
- More from Philly.com: That’s adding insult to injury. He’d already burned a few bridges with longtime teammates like Jameer Nelson after forcing his way out of Orlando this past offseason, and calling those guys “people nobody wanted” isn’t going to go over well with anybody.”
