To owners wise enough not to trust Amar’e Stoudemire’s knees who traded him at peak value, I applaud you. Both in real life and in fantasy, having Amar’e on your team is a serious injury risk. Those who have followed his career should not be surprised when hearing this report.
Stoudemire to me has always been a better trading chip (due to his household name) than fantasy player. This season he was setting career highs with his field goal percentage but still disappointing owners with his lack of peripheral stats such as assists, blocks and rebounds. Playoffs are right around the corner so filling in Stoudemire’s absence early is a necessity.
Zach Randolph may be out a little longer as Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins may give him extended rest and recovery time to ensure Z-Bo is at full strength when playoffs come around. For the moment, Ed Davis could be a solid fill-in for Stoudemire owners while also increasing owners’ blocks and rebounds (last night he shot 6 of 11, had 9 rebounds and swatted five shots).
Another largely un-owned fill-in is Robin Lopez (shooting .542 and averaging 1.6 blocks on the season and .3 more rebounds). Lopez may not be as exciting as Stoudemire or have his brother’s confidence but will give you similar value to Stat at the moment. However, Lopez is known for producing a “dud” game every here and there so be prepared to be under-whelmed with him every once in a while.
Week 20 Schedule
Atlanta, Golden State, Los Angeles, Memphis, Miami, Milwaukee, Minnesota, New York, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, San Antonio and Washington all boast four game schedules this week. As a fantasy owner it is important to not only consider the number of games a team plays in a week. Other factors contribute significantly to a player’s performance such as the opponents and how many games are on the road.
