Exile on DraftStreet
Playing in daily leagues has its frustrations. Last week I lost $90 from the $100 bankroll despite some close finishes. Typical of my luck was coming 79th (out of more than a thousand entries) in the Freeroll because Andrea Bargnani — who started vs. the Lakers on Friday and was playing well — re-injured his elbow. Sunday was more of the same, as most of my teams were in contention but only one finished in the money, winning $10 for coming 25th among 550 teams.
Monday means a fresh $100 and there are five interesting NBA games to choose from. The best contest in real life might also prove to be a fantasy bonanza, as the Thunder and Spurs battle for top seed in the West..

I usually enter the maximum three teams ($2 each) in the $1,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool contest, and often make changes right up to the 7:00 EDT deadline if there is breaking news about injuries, illnesses, suspensions or anything else that can affect player values. For now, here’s one of my teams, ignoring the two high-ticket Thunder superstars.
F1 Tim Duncan (SA-F) $17,050
F2 Carl Landry (GS-F) $11,010
G1 Stephen Curry (GS-G) $17,398
G2 Goran Dragic (PHO-G) $14,381
C1 Al Jefferson (UTA-C) $14,942
C2 Kosta Koufos (DEN-C) $10,946
U1 Mo Williams (UTA-G) $7,212
U2 Steve Novak (NY-F) $6,934
Obviously, if Russell Westbrook shreds the Spurs for 40 points, I’m in trouble. If David Lee returns, I’ll definitely replace Carl Landry and if Carmelo Anthony plays, that might ruin my hunch pick of Steve Novak. Nobody said this game was easy; we promise only that it’s fun and challenging, like the more traditional forms of fantasy hoops only with more action.
